SHIPOKE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
MEETING MINUTES
MONDAY, JUNE 10, 2013

1. Meeting called to order at 7 pm by Ellie Martindale.

2. Attendee Status:
Present: Ellie Martindale, Shirley Marks, , Mary Beth Follett, Theresa Bell Mowery, Brian Moore. Jill Lawley
Excused: Bill Renz, Chuck Cenkner, Glen Dunbar, Kathy Marley-Dunbar, Marie Iaria, Judy Polliard, Kathryn Nonas-Hunter, Gene Gangwish, Joanne Kaldy, Bob Hosteter.

3. Previous Meeting Minutes: Approved.

4. Treasury Activity Report: No report due to Treasurer on vacation.
Confirmation of three check signers on the SNA account. Intentions to sign up for online banking for the SNA account.

5. Committee Reports:

  • Crime Watch: No report due to crime captain on vacation.
  • Social Committee:  Reschedule band on National Night Out as last year. The date will be in August 6th.  Change to Race street park.
  • Communications:  Latest photos will be online soon.  Contractor list and Shipoke 1913 lecture by Dr. Michael Barton are on the website.
  • Beautification: No report.
  • Fundraising: No report.

6. Old Business:

  • Property Issues:  High weeds along sidewalk on Shugart Dr. It is state property. The vacant lot beyond I-83 is overgrown as well. Will check with realtor who has the listing. 713 Front St. is in disrepair and weeds are overgrown in yard. 112 Nagle St. has high weeds in the courtyard.The gas company property complaint has been filed. The question was whether HARB was contacted for permitting in a historic area.  The church property has been cleaned up.
    Kiddy center is for sale. It is a mess, as well as the former art center.
  • Street lights:  Lighten up has not met again. No update on additional repairs to lights.

7. New Business:

  • Parking on Nagle street: someone leaving unsigned notes on cars.
  • SNA slate of candidates needed for September.
  • Newsletter: History on website, call out for new volunteers for SNA board.
  • Meet and greet the candidates at the Flea market Open Forum. MBF will draft a letter to the candidate forum.

Next Meeting: July 8th at the home of Jill Lawley
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm.
