Board Meeting Minutes
FEBRUARY 2014

  • Meeting Date/Time: February 11 at 7 pm called to order by Ellie Martindale.
  • Members Present: Ellie Martindale, Jen Poppy, Susan Fahey, Shirley Marks, Marie Iaria, Kathy Marley-Dunbar, Glen Dunbar, Mary Beth Follett, Joanne Kaldy, Brian Moore, Amanda Beaudoin.
  • Members Excused: Bob Hostetter, Betty Wolf, Gene Gangwish.
  • Review Minutes: Approved as written.
  • Treasurer’s Report: Approved.

  • Committee Reports:
    • Crime Watch:
      There was no criminal activity to report.
    • Social:
      General Meeting/Social: The date of the General Meeting/Social is March 23 at the John Harris Mansion from 4 pm. To 7pm.. The topic is “The Ghosts of South Harrisburg”.
      Easter Egg Hunt: April 20th is Easter. Jen Poppy will plan the event. The date will be decided at the next meeting.
    • Beautification:
      Playground Care: Dave Witwer will work on playground care when the weather is more appropriate.
      Adopt a tree/shrub: Ellie presented markers for the trees and shrubs. This idea will be presented at the March social. The cleanup will still take place, but the expectation is that the tree or shrub will be tended to prior to the Spring Mulch Day.
    • Communication:
      Liaison to the city: Mayor Eric Paperfuse and County Commissioner George Hartwick will make themselves available for a meeting. Right now there seems to be no need until government action is finalized.
      Facebook page: Betty Wolf is working on a Faceboogk page. No update available..
      Thank you for Brian Moore to sending out information on the Biggert-Waters Act.
    • Fund Raising:
      Discussion occurred on using Paypal to get donations for SNA activities. This includes mulch/clean up, food for flea market, emergency situations such as the tree clean up from the tornado two years ago. Action approved, Brian Moore to fillow.
  • Old Business:
    • Knipe House: It has been cleaned by the bank. $30,000 was allocated by the bank to make repairs.
    • Jam Auto: This location will be a tire store. Jam Auto has moved out of the area.
    • Broken light on Race St.: Shirley Marks to follow.
    • Street lights: No news to report.
    • Biggert-Waters Meeting: February 12 10 am at the Dauphin County Government Center. Discussion occurred regarding a potential meeting for the neighborhood. An email will go out requesting comments and questions from the neighborhood.
  • New Business:
    • Snow removal: It will be addressed in the next newsletter. “Problem” Individual homeowners will be contacted.
    • Nomination of Vice President: Joanne Kaldy will take over when Amanda Beaudoin moves in June.
