Board Meeting Minutes
June 2014

Meeting Date/Time: June 10, 2014 at 7 pm called to order by Ellie Martindale.

Members Present: Ellie Martindale, Susan Fahey, Shirley Marks, Marie Iaria, Mary Beth Follett, Joanne Kaldy, Brian Moore, Betty Wolf, Dave Witwer, Kathy Dunbar.
Members Excused: Bob Hostetter, Gene Gangwish, Jen Poppy, Glen Dunbar

Review Minutes: Approved as written.

Treasurer’s Report: Approved.
BEGINNING BALANCE: $6512.13
ACTIVITY: Income: $ 196.19
Expenses: $ 38.00
ENDING BALANCE: $6670.32

Committee Reports

Crime Watch

  • Packages continue to be taken from the front steps of homes in the neighborhood.

Social

  • After flea market potluck: Betty Wolf and Dave Witwer will help with the potluck. 5 pm is the start time.
  • Facebook page is up.

Fundraising

  • 250 prepaid spaces at this time. A planning meeting scheduled for this Thursday at Ellie’s house

Beautification

  • Park improvement grants filed for were a Dog waste station and a bulletin board.
  • Low hanging branches: Property owners are responsible for the trimming of trees. There are also several dead trees.

Communications: No news to report.

Old Business

  • Broken Street light: The light has been repaired. Shirley has the information on the specs of the light in case other neighbors would like to replace the lights in front of their homes. Also, the information on the lights will be posted on the Shipoke website.
  • Street lights and potholes: Some have been repaired. The corner of Washington and 2nd has several potholes that need repaired.
  • Firehouse is now empty.
  • Shipoke banner: No information to report.
  • Codes report: The fallen porch roof was removed from the Tuscarora Street property.

New Business

  • Bob Mummert: A gift certificate for Highland Gardens was given to his wife, Chris.
  • Tax issue: Property values have dropped. The board will be keeping a close eye on this issue.
  • Next meeting: The date is July 8th. Joanne Kaldy will chair the meeting as the Vice President. The President, Ellie Martindale, will be focused on planning a successful flea market.
  • Playground fence: Mary Beth Follett will contact a contractor to provide pricing on minor repairs, power washing and stain.
  • Playground maintenance: The group will come up with a list of suggested plants on what can be planted in the playground.
