JOIN YOUR SHIPOKE NEIGHBORS AT GROUNDDOG DAY 2015 ON JANUARY 31, 2015GroundDOG Day 2015

While Punxsutawney celebrates Groundhog Day this winter, Shipoke will hold its annual Grounddog Day celebration featuring “Shipoke Sheena,” our own furry prognosticator. The event, open to the public, is set for 10:00 am on Saturday, January 31, 2015, in the Conoy Street Kiddie Park (corner of Race and Conoy Streets). The event will feature a ceremony with Harrisburg Mayor Eric Papenfuse, Master of Ceremonies Rev. Hal Fox, and Sheena’s prediction about whether we will have an early Spring or 6 more weeks of Winter. The festivities then will move into a historic carriage house on Showers Street for music, food, and fun for the whole family.

In addition to free donuts, coffee, and other treats, we’ll have a special children’s program with groundhog-themed story time and arts/crafts. Commemorative t-shirts and buttons will be available for sale to support neighbor beautification and other projects and programs. Shipoke friends and local artists and musicians Jonathan Frazier and Terry Crouteau will perform.

Bring your family and friends out on January 31st, chase away the winter blues, and celebrate life in Shipoke!
