Board Meeting Minutes
September 2014

Meeting Date/Time: September 8, 2014 at 7 pm called to order by Ellie Martindale.

Members Present: Ellie Martindale, Dave Witwer, Susan Fahey, Shirley Marks, Marie Iaria, Kathy Marley-Dunbar, Glen Dunbar, Mary Beth Follett, Joanne Kaldy, Brian Moore, Betty Wolf. Gene Gangwish,

Review Minutes: Approved as amended.

Treasurer’s Report: Approved.
ACTIVITY: Income: 35.00
Expenses: 28.16

Committee Reports

Crime Watch:

  • The flowers by the cow were stolen and returned due to observant neighbors. Also, a thank you for a quick response by the Harrisburg Police.


  • September General Meeting: Discussion of September 28th for the General Meeting. It will be held in the Hanna Street Park. Ellie has offered her garage as a backup if it rains. It will start at 4 pm.


  • Fall Clean up – The date will be October 4th at 8 am.
  • The Conoy street park and riverbank need to be cleaned. It should take less than two hours accomplish.
  • Some of the plantings need to be trimmed in the Race Street Park.


  • Facebook page/web site – Suggestions needed for links that we can link to on our web site like the city and other publications.
  • Web site will have a farewell from Ellie. The cleanup date and general meeting date will be posted.

Fund Raising:

  • PayPal – It is now possible to pay for the domain name through PayPal.  It makes it easier for donations.
  • Flea Market: Ellie is organizing the guide book for next year.
  • Calendar: it is expensive to produce a calendar. People use a PDA vs. a paper calendar. There will be a list of alternatives at the next meeting.

Old Business:

  • Property Issues: Nothing to report.
  • Banners: A tally needs to be taken and a decision needs to be made on repair or replacement.
  • Street lights: Nothing to report.
  • Second and Washington potholes: this has been repaired in the last week.
  • Nomination of President and new board members: Joanne and Mary Beth will serve as Co-presidents. A new secretary will be nominated. There are four vacancies. Interested individuals should express their interest to Ellie Martindale.
  • Bill Dallam needs to contact the city in order to gain permission for adding another bench. Kathy will speak with him about this issue.
  • Skunk overpopulation: Shirley will look into measures we can take to control the population.

New Business:

  • Bob Sterne passed away recently. He was a former Shipoke resident.
  • Newsletter topics:
  • Halloween parade: volunteer needed to organize the event. $125 was budgeted for the event.
  • Issues for General Meeting: Joanne and Kathy will buy snacks for the general meeting.

Next Meeting: MONDAY, October 6, 2014 at 7 pm at the home of Joanne Kaldy
